Walk starts at Crathie Church car park. Pass churchyard to the bridge &cross river. Then quiet road leading to woodland track. Return past Lochnagar Distillery, cross river to car park. 6.4miles

Airlie Monument   LM 44-45 (392598)

Start at Cortachy Cemetery, walk alongside River South Esk to Dykehead & then along B 955 to Cortachy Cemetery. A steady climb to Airlie Monument with good views over Glen Clova & Glen Prosen. Return route past memorial to Captain Scott & Edward Wilson.7 miles

Short walk: Dykehead to Cortachy  & return. 4 miles

Wednesday June 8th

Inverbervie- Benholm Gourdon Circular LM  45 (732815)

Leaving Inverbervie a gentle climb up Gourdon Hill, then a gentle descent to Mill of Benholm. Turning east we walk along the Breedies Brae to join the coastal path to Gourdon. Then to Inverbervie. Long walk of 7.5miles.

Short walk: Inverbervie-Gourdon circular/4 miles

Forest of Deer, Mintlaw      OS.30 (957513)

at White Cow Wood car park, cross minor road into Forest of Deer to the Den of Howie & onward to the Observatory. Then Chapel Park Farm to Pitfour Lake, along its shore to the A950 where we join the old railway line & finish at the Happy Plant Centre. 6.5miles

Short Walk: around the lake and back to Happy Plant Centre.

Stonehaven. Dunnottar Castle Circular

Starting at south side of Stonehaven, we walk through Dunnottar Woods then along main road to turn right on to country road leading to coastal road from Stonehaven. Then on to Castle where we join path to War Memorial & back to Stonehaven 5.5miles

Short Walk :: through Dunnottar Woods and return

Mainly flat with slight incline for first mile or so.

Lovely carpets of snowdrops at end of walk. 6miles

Start at Methlick, cross River Ythan into grounds of Haddo House  and via Gillha Woods, Raxton Woods & Ordhill. 

Finish at Tarves car park. 6 miles.

Braes of Gight

Walk starts at car park in Methlick through village & on to track, turning right over River Ythan on to B9005 for a short distance. Then we join a track which leads to Gight Castle =(ruin). Then downhill, we cross the river onto a track which takes us back to Methlick. 6 miles

Short walk: Castle & return 4.5miles

Loch of Strathbeg Nature Reserve LM30  (005577)

Loch of Strathbeg is the largest dune loch in the UK. This walk is a chance to see some of the wilder parts of the reserve, starting at St Combs with a beach walk southwards & return along the dunes.7.5miles

Short walk: an abbreviated version of the long walk.

A sighting of a “Tufted Duck” is guaranteed

Lethan-Arbirlot (619418)

Start at Lethan along the old Forfar railway line to St Vigeans (Waulkmill nature trail) Then Arbroath harbour along the seafront to Elliot. Then follow Elliot-Arbirlot nature trail. 7miles

Short Walk::Lethan to Arbroath & then to car park near cliffs.

Collieston and Sands of Forvie        LM38

Starting from the car park we walk round the harbour and up the hill, along the clifftop coastal path into the Forvie Nature Reserve following the path to Hackley Bay and Rock End and old Forvie Church. Our return takes us past Sand Loch and a visit to Forvie Nature Centre. Long walk 6 miles. Short walk available 3-4 miles

Most of the walk is on good paths and forest tracks, flat with gentle slopes

Fettercairn –Fasque House Policies Circular LM45 (650735)

Walk starts at Fettercairn Square, taking road past distillery (no stopping!) A right turn followed by another right turn takes us to the entrance of  Fasque House and Grounds. Then through the policies back to Fettercairn. Flat terrain but maybe a bit muddy in places. Long walk 5 miles. Short walk available

The walk is on the Formartine and Buchan railway line. Flat surface, easy walking. Long walk 7 miles Short walk available 3.5 miles
