Hillside to Marykirk OS 45 (708 610)

A walk in the vicinity of Hillside and along the North Esk ending
at Marykirk. The day will include a visit to The Old Schoolhouse,
Logie for afternoon tea! The Old Schoolhouse was restored by
the National Trust under their Little Houses scheme and is
Grade A listed. The tenant will show us the house and provides
tea. Cost for the day will be £12 including the tea. Long walk 7.5
miles, short walk 4.5miles

Gartly Moor Glens of Foundland LM29 (580320)
Circular walk which can include a short climb to Hill of Corskie. 7
miles. Short circular walk available.

Wednesday October 2nd


Hill of Fare LM38 (694990)
A circular route mostly on land rover tracks. A steady incline from
Raemoir (90mtrs) via Skairs, Craigrath and Blackyduds
(436mtrs) descending through woodland and farmland. Views
over Deeside well worth the effort!
7.5 miles. Short walk Banchory – Crathes 3.5miles Can be
extended through woods to Castle.

Wednesday July 10th



Dunnydeer and Hill o’Christ’s Kirk LM37 (616282)
This walk combines 2 short hill climbs. Dunnydeer Hill, a short
hill climb approx 1 mile. Christ’s Hill and Flinders Hill a longer
more gradual climb, both with wonderful views and historical
interest. Short walk in area to be confirmed.

Wednesday July 24th


Clachnaben LM45 (614864)
The old rhyme goes ‘Clachnaben and Bennachie are twa
landmarks fae the sea’. This is a lovely walk with a wee bit of a
challenge. Start from Glen Dye car park with gentle climb
followed by downhill slope, through the woods until we climb the
staircase up to the very visible tor. Returning by the same route,
a distance of 6 miles. Short walk is through the forests. 3 miles.

Wednesday August 7th


Woodland of Fyvie Area NJ (793389)
Woodland trails and farm tracks with short section on tarmac
roads. Generally level. The long walk finishes at Fyvie Castle.
6.5 miles. The short walk also finishes at Fyvie Castle. 3 miles.

Wednesday August 21st

Ballater – Cambus o’May Circular LM44
From the square at Ballater we cross the bridge and turn left on
to the South Deeside Road. Then enter the woods following the
track through the fields and birch woods to Cambus o’May
bridge. Crossing the bridge, walk back to Ballater along the old
railway line. 7.5miles. Short walk Ballater to Cambus o’May
3.5miles.

Walks for May and June

Wednesday May 1st


St Cyrus coastal walk LM 45(725647)
Start at Charleston Farm, crossing the main road through the wood on to old railway line to the Viaduct. Descend to road along to the beach. At nature reserve walk over the boardwalk onto the beach, carrying onto the cliffs at St Cyrus. Return along the inland path back to Charleston Farm. Approx 6-7 miles  Short walk as far as wished and return. Lots of wildlife and  interesting fairlies!

Wednesday May 15th


Hill of Rowan LM 44 (490789)
A circular walk on farm tracks and woodland paths,with a climb to the Maule monument on top of the Hill of Rowan, finishing with walk along the South Esk riverbank. 7.5 miles.  Short walk a circuit of Hill of Rowan omitting visit to monument 4.5 miles

Tarland Way   LM44 (530987)
Walk in Aboyne followed by new path to Coull and return along the Tarland way. Lovely views  7.5 miles.  Short walk Aboyne to Coull as far as wished and back.

Wednesday June 12th


Corgarff Castle Strathdon  LM 36 &37
From entrance to castle we climb to top of hill beyond the castle and descend behind the castle and back along the River Don valley. Fairly steep but wonderful views. Approx 6 miles.
Short walk as far as wished along the valley and return

Keith circular. 
A pleasant walk on grass tracks and tarmac around the environs of the town of Keith. Lovely views and lots of historical interest. 6.5 miles.Short walk available.
